RIB 2008: A forum for all Rotarians
« A European vision onto Rotary International
of the future» will be the topic of the Rotary Institute
Brussels 2008.
I have chosen this topic
because the Institute is a forum which allows the Rotarians
to bring new ideas, and
to express themselves
knowing that their message will be listened to by the Board of
RI. The destiny of Rotary International isn’t decided in
Evanston. The Rotary belongs to the Rotarians… who serve
it.
In order to reflect a legitimate opinion of
the existing views, I have undertaken two initiatives.
The first
is the launching off a large preliminary survey which purpose
is to determine the starting point of the work of
our discussion groups, and thus in particular:
- Which is the image that rotarians have of Rotary
?
- Which is the image that not-rotarians have of Rotary?
- Which is the vision that rotarians have of the Rotary of
tomorrow?
This survey will be carried out free of charge near thousands
of people in Germany, in Great Britain, in the Benelux
countries, in France and in Italy by a specialized professional office,
sponsor of the RIB.
The first phase of this survey was realized on the 15th and
the 16th of February. Twelve Rotarians, coming from five different
countries, participated in the `qualitative' preparatory phase,
which will allow the outlining of the questionnaire which will
be used for the `quantitative' part, i.e. the survey itself.
As usual, it was a great occasion to celebrate this wonderful
friendship which links us beyond the political and philosophical
borders.
The second initiative is to open the Institute to all the Rotarians
instead of reserving it to the officers of the RI, as it was
already the case in the Institute of Sorrento a few months ago.
Do you have a vision of the Rotary International
of the future? Do you want to discuss it with your Rotarian friends
coming from
27 European countries? Then we will meet in the RIB 2008 on
the 26th , 27th and 28th of September.
